Terschelling is a municipality in the province of Friesland, until 1942 in the province of Noord-Holland. Calculated from the west, Terschelling is the third inhabited Dutch Wadden island.
Terschelling borders north to the North Sea and south to the Wadden Sea; to the southwest lies Vlieland and to the east Ameland. The total beach length is around 40 kilometers and the total length of the cycle paths is more than 70 kilometers.
Since 1981, Terschelling has been the location for the Oerol Festival every year in June.
